Aylsa McHugh

Aylsa is a Naarm/Melbourne-based artist working with collage to explore the human tendency to find meaning in ambiguity. Combining found imagery with influences from modernism, mythology, and film, her work creates uncanny, elegant juxtapositions that play with pattern, recognition, and disruption.

She has exhibited nationally and internationally, with recent shows at the NGV (Melbourne Now, 2023), Mary Cherry Contemporary, and Incinerator Gallery. Her work is held in the collections of the NGV, ACMI, and the City of Melbourne.

McHugh lives and works on Wurundjeri Country and acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of the land.
