Sue Wearne

Sue Wearne is a contemporary landscape painter based in Gippsland, Victoria. Her paintings draw inspiration from the geometry and rhythms of cultivated landscapes, where patchwork fields, hedgerows and rolling hills are distilled into quiet arrangements of colour, shape and light.

Working primarily in acrylic on board, she creates layered compositions that balance structure with atmosphere. Wearne holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from RMIT University and a Postgraduate Diploma in Teaching from the University of Melbourne.

Alongside her studio practice, she is Head of Arts at a secondary school in Gippsland. Selected exhibitions include her solo exhibition GENESIS (2021), Shoreline (2022), Painting Pattern (2023), Untitled (2023) and Into the Hills (2026). Her work is held in private collections throughout Australia and internationally and is stocked by the Latrobe Regional Gallery.
